Core Competency 3: Interprofessionalism

Objectives:

  • Recognize your leadership style and that of your colleagues
  • Apply skills of management, including delegation, moderation, supervision, and evaluation within your project teams
  • Explain the difference between vision and mission
  • Be able to articulate a vision to others in the field
  • Describe conflict resolution styles
  • Recognize your conflict resolution style tendencies, and apply styles in the field that are less comfortable for you when appropriate
  • Describe methods for negotiation and apply these skills in the field
  • Develop and apply the communication skills to advance and disseminate your work in a public arena
  • Describe and practice applying strategies of leading without authority
  • Describe the model of clinical accompaniment and use this model in your international clinical setting
  • Model professionalism in your role as a clinician, colleague, and patient advocate
  • Create an interprofessional collaborative environment among local and international nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
  • Identify and support unique roles held within interprofessional teams
  • Practice teamwork skills in the field, including participating, listening, differing, and working towards consensus
