Graduate Education & Advanced Training
The HEAL Initiative recognizes the importance in strengthening a global healthcare workforce in the key areas of public and global health: from epidemiology and biostatistics to program design and implementation and cultural competency. The ever-evolving face of global health requires a level of understanding, praxis and training that enables a community health worker, nurse, dentist, pharmacist, physician and traditional healer to be effective in settings that are deeply rooted in structural violence, injustice and inequality. Thus, this is one of the reasons why the HEAL Initiative values continuing education in public health or similar as a core pillar in its model to build healthcare professionals as leaders who can strengthen the health systems in some of the poorest of poor places in the world.
All HEAL fellows, both Rotating and Site, will have an opportunity to earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science (MSc) or alternative post-graduate degree, diploma or certificate during the 2-year fellowship. HEAL academic partners include:
