Rotating fellows are US based physicians or nurses from a variety of specialties who have completed or will be in the final year of a residency program by the start of their fellowship. To apply to be a rotating fellow, you have to have completed or be in your final year of a residency program at an accredited, US-based institution and/or be licensed to practice medicine in the US. Applicants also must have a US passport or green card. (Unfortunately this is the case until we have a better immigration policy!*). Specialists who may apply include: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Med-Peds, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, OB/GYN, Anesthesiology, or General Surgery.
Additionally, applicants must have a strong commitment to social justice and health equity. Finally, individuals from underrepresented communities are especially encouraged to apply.
*Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) regulations prohibit non-US citizens to receive visa sponsorship from UCSF while working at partner sites not directly associated with UCSF. Despite this, HEAL deeply values the commitment of those who have chosen to leave their home country to train in the United States and their great potential to positively impact the lives of their patients wherever they serve. It is our hope to explore ways within the HEAL model to provide training opportunities for these individuals in the future
