Ashwini (Ashi) Batchu is passionate about creating health systems that promote access and eliminate disparities. Prior to joining HEAL, Ashi worked at UCSF’s Department of Psychiatry, where he helped double clinical volume by implementing an electronic healthcare record and complementary operational structure. When living in New York City, he served as a consultant to the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he helped determine how to decrease the length of hospital stays. He also charted financial strategy and optimized resource utilization as a fellow at Columbia University’s Departments of Internal Medicine and Dermatology. Ashi has also conducted field research in Hyderabad, India on the transnational phenomenon of medical tourism.
Ashi earned a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Columbia University with a specialization in Health Policy and Management, and a BA in Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University.
