Mexico Impact

Our work in Mexico

The state of Chiapas in Southern Mexico consistently has one of the lowest rates of access to quality care in the country. In 2016, HEAL partnered with Partners In Health, Mexico (Compañeros En Salud) to connect, train, and mentor the healthcare workers serving communities in Chiapas. After eight years of 28 Chiapas-based fellows participating in HEAL’s Global Program, HEAL launched the HEAL Mexico Leadership Program to expand program offerings to non-English-speaking healthcare workers. Fully in Spanish, the Mexico Leadership Program provides healthcare workers with immersive training in systems thinking and collaborative practice, grounded in the real-world context of Chiapas. Fellows develop lasting relationships that support both personal growth and improved patient outcomes in rural Mexico.
